Bell Game....

Since I didn't go to the game last night I just found out today that we lost. NOOOO!!
I'm really dissapointed, but our team must've tried their best.

My brother really wanted to know if our team won, so I actually found out by googling "FV vs. Edison Bell Game 2008" (:D). It was linked to a edison football player's mom's blog...that was interesting. Apparently, her son got a concussion.

Her blog is very detailed about the game, but I can't tell if FV was lagging behind since the beginning. All I'm finding out is Edison's point of view. To her point of view, Edison wasn't at its "A" game before half-time.

I was really hoping that we'd win...hopefully our senior year. That would be great if we won senior year!

Ramadan....

The fasting month of ramadan for muslims already started a while ago. Actually, it's more than half-way done.

The total time for fasting is one month.

Basically, one cannot eat nor drink from sunrise to sunset. There is a calender that tells you when to stop eating in the morning (we get up before sunrise to eat) and when to break the fast.

My mom was actually telling me how fasting (any kind...has to have the absense of food) is healthy, and it's proven scientifically.

I got curious, so I looked it up online and this is what I found:

During the period you fast, your body cleans itself. Your body is more relaxed, so it could use the extra energy for other mechanical and chemical processes. You actually can recover faster because your body works to destroy unwanted toxins and other excess material.

Fasting also gets rid of unwanted fats, which almost all humans have.

I also found out that there are stages in which your body cleans out the body:

"The first stage of cleansing removes large quantities of waste matter and digestive residues. The first few days of a fast can be rough due to the quantity of waste passing into the blood stream. The tongue becomes coated and the breath foul as the body excretes waste through every opening. After the third day of the fast, there is little desire for food. The second stage is the cleansing of mucous, fat, diseased and dying cells, and the more easily removed toxins. As the fast continues, the cleansing process becomes more thorough. The last stage is the cleansing of toxins that have been accumulating in your cellular tissue from birth, and the microscopic tubes that carry vital elements to the brain. Cleansing of the last layer is only possible through a combination of juice fasting, water fasting, and a healthy diet high in raw foods. To overcome a severe disease like cancer, it is important to continue through a series of fasts, to the point where the full scouring action of catabolism removes the disease from the tissue."

So, fasting is actually really good for your health. It gives your body a rest and lets it clean itself.

The Dangers of Canned Food!!!

This little story below tells us an example of WHY it is important to wash the tops of soda cans or any other cans. It's actually pretty gross.
O yea!!! I had NO HW yesterday. I was sooo happy:D!!! But today I do and lots of it
:(

A stock clerk was sent to clean up a storeroom in Maui, Hawaii.

When he got back, he was complaining that the storeroom was really filthy and that he had noticed dried mouse/rat droppings in some areas.
A couple of days later, he started to feel like he was coming down with a stomach flu, complained of sore joints and headaches, and began to vomit.

He went to bed and never really got up again. Within two days he was severely ill and weak. His blood sugar count was down to 66, and his face and eyeballs were yellow. He was rushed to the emergency at Pali-Momi, where he was diagnosed to be suffering from massive organ failure. He died shortly before midnight .
No one would have made the connection between his job and his death, had it not been for a doctor who specifically asked if he had been in a warehouse or exposed to dried rat/mouse dropping s at any time. They said there is a virus (much like the Hanta virus) that lives in dried rat and mouse droppings.

Once dried, these droppings are like dust and can easily be breathed in or ingested if a person does not wear protective gear or fails to wash face and hands thoroughly.

This is why it is extremely important to ALWAYS carefully rinse off the tops of canned sodas or foods, and to wipe off pasta packaging, cereal boxes, and so on.
Almost everything you buy in a supermarket was stored in a warehouse at one time or another, and stores themselves often have rodents.

Most of us remember to wash vegetables and fruits but never think of boxes and cans.
The ugly truth is, even the most modern, upper-class, super store has rats and mice. And their warehouse most assuredly does!

How to Identify a Stroke

I got this forwarded email from my friend, and I thought it was interesting, so now i'm posting it.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm , Ingrid passed away). She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.

T * Ask the person to TALK, to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE(Coherently) (I.e. It is sunny out today).

R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Texting Competion

I just came across a small article that talked about a texting competition that was held and the winner would be determined by writing the longest word they could think of in the shortest time. Well, there isn't a lot of information, but it says that a thirteen year old girl in Pasadena won $25,000 by texting:

"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from "Mary Poppins" in 15 seconds.

I thought that was pretty amazing.

I also read about a teacher who sprinkled cow urine in hopes to purify students and drive away the evil. That was interesting to read.

Last post ever for "Kid Nation"!!!

The last episode finally came for this show. It ended up the way I expected and, overall, the show was OK. It was kind of boring actually now that I think about it.

Well, the golden stars were worth 50,000 dollars this time and three kids won them. Two of them did already get the 20,000 dollar stars before in the show and my mom was complaining about that a lot because she thinks that new kids should get it instead of the same ones. I guess I can understand why they got it since they were very good workers and dedicated.

They had to do one last ch allege which was to clean up the whole town following instructions placed in various areas. In the end, you start to realize that they were preparing for a picnic and all the parents came, so that was a nice and touching moment.

I'm kind of glad this show ended because it was distracting me from my homework, so that is a relief. I was actually addicted to a book series which was about vampires and the same thing happened with that, and I slacked off on my school work :D.

More "Kid Nation"

I haven't blogged for such a looonnnggg time, so I guess I should stop being lazy and type something. The only thing I can think about is "Kid Nation". Well, the season finale is coming up and this show wasn't that bad. You can tell, though, at sometimes that the director is telling the kids to do somethings and start up fights.

This second last episode was about unity, overall. The town councils left and the town "sheriff" was left in charge. The sheriff actually did a better job, in my opinion, compared to their council leaders.

In one of the other episodes, they won an arcade with a lot of cool games and they didn't have to pay in buffalo nickels, so it was all free. However, in the town council meeting they agreed to shut down the arcade because they realized that they didn't know each other very well and they had 3 days left.

Another prize they won was hot air balloon rides.

On the season finale, they are suppose to recieve the final gold stars. Apparently, they're worth more than a regular gold star which is 20,000. I wonder who deserves them.
